| Body Technician AZ Open (J#47674) Title: Body Technician Company: Swift Transportation Posting Date: 05/27/2010 Job Number: HR08960 Job Title: BODY TECHNICIAN - 5M Work Schedule: M, T, W, Th, F - 07:00 AM - 03:30 PM Shift Detail: 1st Job Location: Phoenix , AZ Department: Shop Job Information: Primary Function: To perform thorough inspections and related tractor and body repairs while ensuring safety compliance with DOT requirements on equipment owned and/or operated by Swift Transportation in addition to Owner Operator equipment. Description: Body / Chassis damage - Repair body damage on many different types of trucks. This ranges from minor dents to severe collision damage such as:- Hood repairs to include head lamp, front bumper, grille, latches, shocks and fender replacement- Side cab entry steps and rails- Fuel tank replacement- Cab door repair or replacement- Side cab extenders- Side wall damage- Reflectors / Light Functions - Head and fog lamps, interior lighting, marker lights, and turn signals and controlsBrakes & Wheel Seals - Complete designated steering and tandem axle repairs/replacements to meet Company / DOT specifications.Cooling System - As a result of accident damage, responsible for various repairs ranging from fluid top offs to changing cool packs (radiator, charge air cooler, AC condenser), engine piping, hoses, etc. to protect the trucks engine system and return the unit to pre-accident condition.Windshield / Wiper / Washer and Controls - Repair or replace to keep unit in compliance. Mirror condition and operation - Ensure the mirrors are operational and secure for safety. Windshields are replaced when damaged and do not meet DOT requirements.Interior cab repairs - Includes seat belt and bunk strap replacement, seat repair and or replacement to comply with OEM and DOT requirements.May perform additional duties as assigned by management.Other duties:Clutch Adjustments - Adjust the clutch in trucks to reduce free play in the clutch.DOT Inspections - Perform inspections on every unit that leaves the shop to ensure excellent quality work has been performed and the Company complies with all safety regulations.Perform recalls or service campaigns - Perform all recalls regulated by the Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) of the trucks to ensure safety, quality, and long life of the unit. Skills: Ability to perform any and all collision damage repairs, including mechanical repairs and fabrication Education Required: Freightliner certifications or equivalent Experience Required: 48 months body related experience in the transportation, heavy equipment or agriculture industry; double required experience may be substituted for high school diploma/GED.
